For this weekend, students have several writings they may or may not be finished yet.
1. Weird Thanksgiving Some students still owe we the correction from their first writing. Your draft or partially corrected draft should have been posted to the class blog. Use that to copy and paste into a document. It should be printed out at school and added to your Duo Tang mang. 2. Spooky Story All students can complete their first draft of your spooky story. Here are the guidelines for the story. 1. 700-1000 words. 2. It should follow your setting and plot outline but doesn’t have to IF you come up with a more dynamic and enthralling idea. 3. Use the five senses in your description of the spookiness. Be prepared to identify this in your story because we will be highlighting these phrases in class… with a highlighter… in class. (Maya and Charlotte… in class.) 4. Use five or more class words in the proper way and proper tense. 5. Have a parent or older sibling proofread your writing for capitalization and punctuation. Bring in a signed note that this happened. Yup, I just gave your parents homework. 6. Your story can be scary and a little gory but must be school appropriate. No sexual overtones, guns or dwelling on blood. Remember Mrs. G said gore is a sign of a desperate writer.

Here is the math we covered in class today. So if you were away or your name is Cody, you can do this for Monday. Post your revised story here.
This could be your second draft or your first if you are one of the pleasant people who didn't do the homework on the weekend. Some people are looking for a list of the class words. If you remember any of them, add them here as a comment.
Crazy Thanksgiving Day Story
Your story must be at least 150 words (That's so short!) and posted to the blog by Sunday night. That's right! Sunday Night. I want to read and mark them Monday. Your story is fiction. (Made up but can be based on your actual Thanksgiving.) Your story should build to a climax and then have a surprise ending. Your story should include the phrase, "That's not a turkey! That's a... and "That's was a close one. We almost ended up becoming the turkey this Thanksgiving!" As part of the assignment, read at least one other person's story and leave a comment, preferably a constructive and kindly worded comment. Marking Content 10 Caps and Punctuation 5 Using the Phrases Shown Above 4 Using Words from the class list 4 Commenting about someone else's post 2 Total 30 In class, you were given an opportunity to create French flashcards. You also have notes from your binder. On Monday, we will have a test on colours, numbers 1-31, some connecting words and verbs that I will list below. For science, there will be a test that has content from the homework from this weekend and also some general knowledge about atoms and their bits that make them up. All of the atom information has been covered in class multiple times and should be no surprise to students. (Atomic number, atomic mass, protons, neutrons, croutons, etc.) French Connection Words avec = with dans = in et = and mais = but sur = on sans = without pacre que = because Question Words why = pourquoi where = ou when = quand how = comment what = quelle Verbs dancer manger = to eat je peux je veux je sais j'aime (I love) je déteste (I hate) parler = to talk If you remember more connection words or verbs we have used, add them in a comment. |
