Complete these three section of the lab form for homework. Bring it to class on Friday if you want to participate in the lab. Materials, Procedures and Hypothesis The homework doesn't need to be typed. Only the final lab, when typed, will earn you an additional 5% on your final mark. All students have an article to read and discuss as a family (if possible.) Please sign the handout and make a quick note about how your family discussion went. Did you as a parent learning anything new? (Adults, I'm not grading this so don't feel stressed.) Also, we talked about trying the dinner bowl for phones. Ask your student to explain. Finally, we also watched the following video in class. Parents are welcome to watch it and discuss it with your son or daughter, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hER0Qp6QJNU The handouts and art homework are both due Monday. Link:

Your final drawing should be about as big as a small frisbee or a small nerf football. Feel free to start over or rewatch parts of the video as you wish. YOU MAY NOT WATCH THE VIDEO IN SLOW MOTION!!!!!! 2. If you want, send me a picture of your drawing and I will start a new art page on the blog. 3. Your submission will be marked on quality so make sure you try until you achieve something you feel is your best work... but no slow mo!!! For extra fun, try this video on the ear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc-LyoVG2cQ&list=PLCD2CF65888663986 1. Find a news item that interests you and bring it into class. This item can be found in a paper, on the internet or in a video interview with your grandpa.
2. You must post a brief brief summary of the item and your opinion on the article on the blog before Monday. It should be 80-150 words in length. Some possible topics that were discussed in class were technology news, natural disasters, terror attacks, the World Juniors, food concerns, extreme weather events, and platipi in the Nile River. In our last writing assignment for Health, you talked about what kind of student you were and what kind of a student you would like to be. How's that going by the way? Are you closer to your goal? For this writing assignment, you are going to write about change. To summarize the question, how are you different today than you were at the start of the year in September? (If it creates a clearer picture, you can think about you from last school year in 2015/16 until today.) Minimum 500 words. Maximum 1200 words. You have four categories to focus on. You don't have to address all of them because some of them might not matter to you at all and some might be dreadfully important to you. Just try to be as introspective as possible. (Paint the best picture of you possible.) Physically - are you taller, faster, smarter? Does your back hurt and your knees ache? Do you need glasses this year? Are you prettier now than...oh wait... all of these things are describing me. :-( Scholastically - are you better in school? Do you work harder or take things less seriously? Do you have goals in school that are just for this year or are you planning for secondary school already? Are you thinking of staying in band or going into the CAT Pak program? Leadership program? Playing team sports? Going into the trades like mechanics or woodworking? (Grade sixes, how are you adapting your style knowing you will probably be in my class again next year?) Socially - have your friends changed? Are you more relaxed about friends this year? Do you find yourself having less friends this year and that is bothering you? Are you looking forward to secondary school and making new friends or re-uniting with older classmates? Technology - Are you the master of technology or does it own you? Do you feel more freedom because of technology compared to yourself in September or last school year or do you feel like technology makes your life more complicated? Are you better at using technology to find information? Do you think you are a leader in technology and research or just a cell phone cowboy with no ambitions but to wander the lonely plains of texting solitude for all eternity? Do you see technology in a different light now that we have discussed how technology doesn't always make the world a better place? Science and Socials - Do you think you understand the world better now than you did in September? Do some things about the world now make more sense to you than they did in September? Has your attitude to the world changed? Do you see the different countries as more connected or more against each other than you did in September? Finally, summarize the way you feel you have changed and decide if you dictated that change or you were forced by others to make that change. Did you change because you wanted to or because your teacher bullied you, your parents demanded you change or your friends asked you to change? Why have you changed? Or, possibly even more important, why have you not changed? |
